Flavour-O-Rama's Bourbon-Glazed Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of chicken thighs

  • Quick Marinade

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (for marinade)

  • 2 tsp of Flavour-o-rama seasoning (for marinade)

  • Sauce/Glaze

  • 5 fresh cloves of garlic minced, or 1 tbsp of ready-made minced garlic

  • 1 Tsp ginger

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • ¼ cup of bourbon whiskey-more if want

  • 1 tbsp of Flavour-o-rama seasoning (for remaining sauce)

  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce (for remaining sauce)

  • ½ cup of water

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. First, make sure to clean the chicken. Marinate chicken in 1 tbsp. of hoisin sauce, and 2 tsp of Flavour-o-rama seasoning for at least 5 minutes. You may add extra items to the marinade, such as peppers, onions, etc., however, it is not required. While chicken is marinating, you may begin to chop up the garlic. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, cover with foil and set aside.

  2. In a separate bowl, combine the garlic, ¼ cup of hoisin sauce, ¼ cup of soy sauce, ¼ cup of choice bourbon (add more if desired), 1 tsp of ginger (fresh or powder form), 1 tbsp of Flavour-o-rama seasoning and ¼ cup of brown sugar. Set aside.

  3. Next, in a cast iron pan or a frying pan, add 1 tbsp of sesame oil and let the pan heat up at medium to high heat. Make sure the pan is hot and ready; the heat will help sear the chicken and add color. Add the chicken thighs to the pan, and sear on each side for 3-4 minutes. Take the chicken out of the pan once both sides are fully seared and set aside. After about 1 min, begin to chop the cooked chicken into 1 inch pieces. Set aside.

  4. Then, using the same pan that was used to sear the chicken, add 2-3 tsp of additional sesame oil, ( you may add more oil if needed). Next, at medium heat, add the sauce/glaze ingredients which include garlic minced garlic, ginger, soy sauce, bourbon (add more if desired), Flavour-o-rama seasoning, hoisin sauce, water and brown sugar.

  5. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 to 10 min. Lower the heat, to ensure the sauce does not burn. The sauce will become darker in color and thicken. Add in chopped chicken and stir. Simmer all the ingredients on the stove for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve chicken warm with desired sides such as rice, or vegetables.
