Quick and Tasty Pasta Sauce

A tomato-based sauce is not only delicious but useful for so many uses in the kitchen. From a simple marinara, to a zesty meat sauce, tomato sauce is a flavor-packed and versatile. Here is a Flavour-O-Rama recipe blast, for a sauce that is simple, yet addicting.

This sauce can be made meatless, veggie packed, made with meat, or a meat alternative. If a meat alternative is being used, make sure not to overdo it with the salt content in the sauce.

Recipe:

  • 2-3 tablespoons of avocado oil

  • 2 to 3 shallots or one large yellow onion, chopped

  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced

For a thicker sauce, you may add 2-3 tablespoons of tomato paste or two small, chopped Roma tomatoes (if desired)

  • One 1-pound jar of your favorite tomato pasta sauce (this serves as a shortcut)

  • 2 tablespoons of Flavour-O-Rama seasoning

(If desired), 1 pound of ground meat (beef, turkey, chicken, meat alternative)

  • 3 teaspoons of garlic powder

  • 3 teaspoons of crushed black pepper

  • 3 teaspoons of onion powder

  • 3 teaspoons of parsley (fresh or dry)

  • 3 teaspoons of oregano (fresh or dry)

  • 3 teaspoons of rosemary (fresh or dry)

  • 3 teaspoons of thyme (fresh or dry)

  • Salt to taste

(If dairy is your fancy, you may add shredded Parmesan or Romano cheese)

For added meat, you want to use about one pound of ground meat of your choice, i.e. ground beef or ground turkey. Begin by adding about 2-3 tablespoons of avocado or olive oil to a saucepan on medium heat. Add 2 teaspoons of Flavour-O-Rama to the oil, then add meat to the pan to brown. Stir together the Flavour-O-Rama seasoning and the meat until combined. Let meat cook. Once the meat is brown, remove from heat source and set aside to add to the sauce later. It helps to put the cooked meat in a separate bowl. Use the same saucepan to cook the pasta sauce. The drippings from the meat add even more flavor to the sauce.

Heat the stovetop to medium heat. Add the avocado oil. After 1 min when the oil is heated, add the chopped onion or shallots. Out of the two tablespoons of Flavour-O-Rama seasoning, you can add a pinch of seasoning to the onions in the oil, seasoning the oil carries so much flavor) Sautee the onion or shallots until translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about one minute (you want to add the garlic and sauté lightly to prevent burning).

For a thicker sauce, you may add tomato paste at this time. Feel free to add chopped tomatoes as well if available. Cook with the sauteed onion/shallots and garlic for about 2-3 mins. (if you wanted to add veggies, add them chopped at this point and sauté until soft). If not, then, go ahead and add your favorite pasta sauce. You can lower the heat to medium-low or low heat. While the sauce is simmering, go ahead and add the rest of the Flavour-O-Rama seasoning, herbs, cheese of choice if desired and salt to taste. You may also add any meat/meat alternative if desired. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes. Your kitchen will be filled with an amazing aroma. Then, you are all set! Pair with your favorite pasta or use on another dish. The possibilities are endless. Let the tastebud utopia continue!
