Going Plant-Based: The What, How and Why
At times, it is not until we go through one or a series of unfortunate health events, that we begin to connect the dots and truly think about what we put on our plates. As a faithful animal protein and dairy lover, the standard American diet was my go-to. At least, until my health started to take a nose dive. So much so, every bodily ache and pain felt amplified. I felt groggy and sluggish, had frequent skin breakouts, and had the “common cold” multiple times a year, which I believe is more than usual. It was as if my body was crying out for help, but I did not heed to the red flags until later on. It was not until I had the opportunity to speak with a primary care doctor, who specializes in “Lifestyle Medicine”, that the light bulb went off for me. Especially when it came to what was on my plate.
3 Reasons Why Change is A Good Thing (Even When You Think it is Not)
According to the Oxford Dictionary definition, the word “change” is defined as to “make (someone or something) different; alter or modify” and to “substitute one thing for (another)”. At times, looking at change through a more open perspective can make adjusting to such events less burdensome, even worthwhile.

What Flavour-o-rama Means to Me
Before putting pen to paper (or, more likely, before clicking the computer keyboard) I was not sure how to begin this entitled “love letter”. I figured this letter would just be a demonstration of my love and admiration for food in general. A letter explaining how eating the right meal can feel like a warm embrace from family, or an encouraging phone call from a loved one just when you need it. How the perfect bite of food can bring you back to when you felt the safest, the most cared for, back to the days when you felt free to be vulnerable, secure, protected, and just felt pure bliss, just because.
